Role of Entrepreneurship in Sports” (RES)

The “Role of Entrepreneurship in Sports” (RES) project, a collaborative initiative involving Italy, Sweden, and Romania, has successfully concluded after 24 months of dedicated effort and international cooperation. The project was designed, to address the critical issue of youth unemployment by promoting entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship education, with a specific emphasis on sport entrepreneurship. By targeting young people, particularly those with a migrant background, RES aimed to empower them with the skills and confidence necessary to transition from entrepreneurial ideas to action.

Project Objectives and Methodologies

RES set forth a series of specific objectives to achieve its mission:

  1. Empowerment and Entrepreneurial Development:

   – Utilizing sport methodologies in conjunction with Non-Formal Education (NFE) techniques, the project aimed to equip young people with essential soft and transversal skills. These skills are fundamental to fostering a mindset conducive to social business and entrepreneurship.

  1. Development of Creative Thinking:

   – By employing Digital Storytelling, a preferred method for cultivating entrepreneurial skills and attitudes, RES facilitated the enhancement of planning and communication abilities among the youth.

  1. Self-Branding and Digital Competence:

   – The project introduced a Self-Branding Set of instruments and activities designed to help participants develop their personal communication strategies, especially through social media, thereby acquiring vital digital competencies.

Key Results Achieved

The RES project has realized significant outcomes, which are as follows:

  1. Reports on European Good Practices (R1):

   – The consortium collected and shared good practices and successful models of entrepreneurial education, focusing on Digital Storytelling and Personal Branding. These reports serve as valuable resources for ongoing and future initiatives.

  1. Future Sport Entrepreneurs – Blended Mobility for Young People (R2):

   – Through the Blended Mobility for Young People (BMYP) program, participants had the opportunity to develop and actualize their sport entrepreneurship ideas. This initiative, hosted by a Danish organization, employed NFE methods to foster social skills and entrepreneurial mindset among youth with a migrant background.

  1. Learning Outputs: “Guide – Sport in Entrepreneurship” (R3):

   – The consortium produced a comprehensive guide aimed at youth operators and stakeholders. This guide serves as a practical reference for those interested in developing sport enterprises, offering insights and strategies to support young sport entrepreneurs.

  1. Local Dissemination Conferences (R4):

   – Each participating country organized a local conference to disseminate the project outputs. These events not only shared the project’s achievements but also engaged young people with a migrant background, enhancing their knowledge and skills in sport entrepreneurship.

Impact and Future Directions

The RES project has had a profound impact on its target group—young people aged 20-30 with migrant backgrounds, particularly those from disadvantaged communities. By equipping these individuals with entrepreneurial skills and fostering an environment of creativity and self-branding, RES has empowered them to pursue sport entrepreneurship with confidence.

Moving forward, the methodologies and resources developed during this project, such as the Digital Storytelling techniques and the “Guide – Sport in Entrepreneurship,” will continue to serve as invaluable tools for youth operators and stakeholders across Europe. The successful models and good practices shared through RES provide a strong foundation for future projects aimed at combating youth unemployment and promoting social entrepreneurship.

In conclusion, the RES project has made significant strides in promoting entrepreneurship in sports among young people, particularly those from migrant backgrounds. Through international collaboration and innovative educational methods, RES has not only addressed the immediate challenges of youth unemployment but also paved the way for a more inclusive and entrepreneurial future.

We extend our gratitude to all the partners, participants, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the RES project. Your dedication and collaboration have been instrumental in achieving our goals and making a positive impact on the lives of young people across Europe.
